Anthony Castonzo says Andrew Luck is training “tirelessly” with kidney injury behind him

Despite missing the final seven games of the 2015 season, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay plans to give quarterback Andrew Luck a “shocking” contract this offseason.

It would help for Luck to be healthy first before Irsay slides that contract in front of Luck to sign.

Fortunately for the Colts, Luck seems to be progressing well as he recovers from the lacerated kidney that cut short his season. Teammate and Colts left tackle Anthony Castonzo said Luck is already back working hard in his offseason program at team headquarters.

He’s extremely optimistic about the whole thing, as is his nature, and is just working tirelessly to try and get back,” Castonzo said in an interview with Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt on Sirius XM NFL Radio. “It just didn’t end up working out last season because it was a really serious injury. But I’ve seen him quite a bit at the facility working out.”

Luck was never medically cleared to return before the end of the regular season. He hasn’t played football since early November, which at least kept him from taking two more months of hits from defenders. Now that the spleen issue appears to be behind him, it should give Luck a jump on preparing for next season.

“He’s able to get his offseason started early because he didn’t have the wear-and-tear from the last half of the season so he’s good to go,” Castonzo said. “He’s making the most of the fact that he didn’t have to play those last games. As bad as it is, he’s finding a silver lining. That’s his personality — moving forward and being the best he can be.”

The article says in one place, “Now that his spleen issues are behind him”. In another part of the article it talks about his lacerated kidney; were both his spleen and kidney injured?

I wonder if Luck will get an offseason participation banner this year?

The kidney injury is his personal trainer. He always forces beards to work hard!

He had a down season last year but also produced against the two best teams in the AFC and beat a Denver defense that single-handedly won the SB. The best defense since the 2000 Ravens.

With Rob Chudzinski at OC and Grigson hopefully no longer interfering with things, Luck should be back to a top 5 QB next year.

Luck only got one game in last year with Chudzinski as the coordinator, and they beat the World Champion Broncos. Having gotten to the AFC Championship the year before, and cleaning up the coaching staff, the Colts are primed for an awesome season. They hit on two outstanding rookie D-Linemen in the 3rd and 5th round last year, and their #1 pick, WR Phillip Dorsett, who was hurt last year, could easily have a pro bowl season. He was by far their best WR last year in camp. If you have Andrew Luck on your fantasy team and you’re in a keeper league, keep him. You’ll be happy you did.

The 2013 Seahawks are the best defense since the 2000 Ravens. In fact, they’re the best defense since the ’85 Bears.
