Cal running back Daniel Lasco may have improved his draft stock more than any other running back with his performance at the Scouting Combine today.

On the broad jump, Lasco nearly jumped out of the building: Lasco’s broad jump of 11 feet, 3 inches was the best for any running back at the Combine in at least 10 years.

The 6-foot, 209-pound Lasco was also first among this year’s running backs in the vertical jump at 41.5 inches, second in the 60-yard shuttle at 11.31 seconds, fourth in the 40-yard dash at 4.46 seconds, sixth in the 20-yard shuttle at 4.26 seconds, seventh in the bench press with 23 reps of 225 pounds and 11th in the three-cone drill at 7.22 seconds.

Heading into today, Lasco was not considered a strong draft prospect, thanks to a disappointing and injury-plagued senior season in 2015. But Lasco played very well in 2014, rushing for 1,115 yards and 12 touchdowns. In fact, it was Lasco -- not potential first-round quarterback Jared Goff -- who was named Cal’s team MVP in 2014.

Lasco also has experience playing special teams, and he’s versatile enough that he should be able to find a place for himself in the NFL. He certainly answered any questions about his athleticism today.
