The Saints need to bolster their defense, and they’re hoping to get a jump on free agency to do so.

New Orleans is hoping to bring James Laurinaitis in for a free agent visit next week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The Rams released Laurinaitis, so he’s a free agent now and can sign with a team at any time, rather than having to wait until the March 9 start of the league year. He said on PFT Live this week that he expects to have a better idea of where he’ll sign after the Combine.

Laurinaitis is the No. 65 player on our Free Agent Hot 100.

I would say the Giants need to sign him, but he hasn’t had enough injuries to get Reese’s attention.

Maybe if the Saints managed their cap better, they wouldn’t have had to say goodbye to a franchise player like Jimmy Graham.

Maybe if Jimmy werent a prima donna and locker room cancer he wouldnt have been traded.

I can’t give Mickey Loomis any props on managing the cap because he NEVER gets out in front of the contracts of the few superstars we have/had and he wind up losing them or it puts us in cap hell. People can hate on him all they like but Belichick is a MASTER of handling the cap.

The contracts that we gave to Gallette and that we are still currently giving to Byrd are the ones that are killing us the most.

Sure Brees’ doesn’t help either but c’mon now, look what Drew does. If he doesn’t put on a black and gold jersey, we’d win about 3-4 games a year.
