At the Scouting Combine last week, Bills coach Rex Ryan discussed the disappointing performance of his defense in 2015 and how they will improve in 2016 in the inimitable style he’s become known for since moving up to a head coaching job.
“We’ve got to be all in,” Ryan said, via the Buffalo News. “It’s kind of like being half-pregnant. Forget that. We’re all in. We’re fully pregnant now.”
To make sure the defense remains fully pregnant, the Bills may turn to someone who has some experience in that area. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that cornerback Antonio Cromartie is expected to visit the Bills soon and that Ryan is “intrigued” by the prospect of bringing Cromartie on board.
Ryan coached Cromartie with the Jets from 2010 to 2013 so the corner is familiar with Ryan’s scheme. Cromartie struggled with the Jets last season, leading the team to cut him earlier this month to save $8 million, but the Bills would likely be asking Cromartie to play a different role since they already have a strong pair of starters in Stephon Gilmore and Ronald Darby.
