Von Miller is staying a Bronco beyond today, one way or another.
And the Super Bowl MVP linebacker feels pretty good about his team’s chances if Brock Osweiler returns as the quarterback to replace Peyton Manning.
Via the Denver Post, Miller said during an appearance on the NFL Network that he was impressed with the leadership Osweiler showed during his relief appearance last season.
“I see the same type of leadership qualities that I see in Peyton,’ Miller said. “He knows how to work the room. He can relate to everybody in the locker room — not just the offensive guys, not just the defensive guys. He can relate to everybody in the room. Brock is one of those guys, and he goes out there and he leads in that type of way.”
Miller credited coach Gary Kubiak for managing the quarterback position last year, through all the ups and downs and injuries and ineffectiveness.
“No, it wasn’t weird at all, he said of the quarterback swaps. “That’s just the type of coaching that we’ve been getting all year from coach (Gary) Kubiak. When we started training camp, Peyton was in, then he was out. Brock was in, then he was out. The same thing on defense. We did a great job of rotating guys, so when the season came, we were used to it. Hats off to coach Kubiak for getting us ready for that.”
But Miller doesn’t have to worry about rotating, as he’s going to get the exclusive franchise tag today, unless he gets a huge multi-year deal before the 4 p.m. deadline.
