Von Miller thinks Brock Osweiler’s a Peyton Manning-level leader

Von Miller is staying a Bronco beyond today, one way or another.

And the Super Bowl MVP linebacker feels pretty good about his team’s chances if Brock Osweiler returns as the quarterback to replace Peyton Manning.

Via the Denver Post, Miller said during an appearance on the NFL Network that he was impressed with the leadership Osweiler showed during his relief appearance last season.

I see the same type of leadership qualities that I see in Peyton,’ Miller said. “He knows how to work the room. He can relate to everybody in the locker room — not just the offensive guys, not just the defensive guys. He can relate to everybody in the room. Brock is one of those guys, and he goes out there and he leads in that type of way.”

Miller credited coach Gary Kubiak for managing the quarterback position last year, through all the ups and downs and injuries and ineffectiveness.

“No, it wasn’t weird at all, he said of the quarterback swaps. “That’s just the type of coaching that we’ve been getting all year from coach (Gary) Kubiak. When we started training camp, Peyton was in, then he was out. Brock was in, then he was out. The same thing on defense. We did a great job of rotating guys, so when the season came, we were used to it. Hats off to coach Kubiak for getting us ready for that.”

But Miller doesn’t have to worry about rotating, as he’s going to get the exclusive franchise tag today, unless he gets a huge multi-year deal before the 4 p.m. deadline.

Why does this site glorify proven cheaters like Von Miller*?

The other QBs Von has played with were Orton and Tebow. Not a terribly high bar for Brock to clear.

The reason Osweiller was benched was his lack of leadership. He couldn’t take control of his team during final regular season game against the Chargers. Kubiak called him out during a halftime interview.

    ……………….
Or was it because of Manning and his use of HGH to get him back in the game

John Elway has been extremely successful throughout his entire life. He decided, after a HOF career as an NFL QB, to become a General Manager. Now he’s won a super bowl. Some might say he’s just been lucky his whole life. Others might say he knows what he’s doing. The fact that he appears to be a football genius, and he played QB at a HOF level, you might think he knows a little bit more about the QB position than your average GM. Don’t be shocked if Osweiler makes it to the HOF some day. You might be surprised, but don’t be shocked.

Doncha think that Peyton should get some credit for being a good teacher – by example if nothing else.

Yeah, I’d put my money on Brock. You don’t sit and wait behind one of the best QBs of all time and not learn a thing or two. There will be some rough spots of course, as there always are, but he looked pretty good out there in the games he played when Peyton was out. Give the guy a chance

Well then if Miller feels that way, why doesn’t he take a hometown discount so they can sign Osweiler then?

Oh…he doesn’t believe that much huh?

Brock isn’t anywhere near a PM level leader, if he was, he would have had a much bigger contract last year and he would have started the playoffs
