The Falcons have ended their long relationship with wide receiver Roddy White, but White isn’t ready to leave the NFL behind.
White texted Josina Anderson of ESPN after receiving the news of his release from the Falcons on Wednesday and told her that he needs to find another job. White said that he hopes to play “another year or two” before dropping the curtain on his playing career.
Anderson asked White if he had any thoughts about where he’d like to go next and White responded that he’s “a Southern guy.” Dirk Koetter, White’s former offensive coordinator with the Falcons, is now the head coach of the Buccaneers while another former Falcons coordinator -- Mike Mularkey -- is the head coach of the Titans with former Falcons receivers coach Terry Robiskie serving as offensive coordinator, so there are some familiar faces in the right geographic neck of the woods.
The question is whether either coach or team thinks there’s enough left in the tank to make White an upgrade to their offenses. White’s production has slipped the last three seasons as he’s dealt with a variety of injuries, which probably won’t help his job prospects even if teams believe he can be a valuable veteran mentor to their receiving corps.
