For some impending free agents, the opening of the “legal tampering” window on Monday is a day they are looking forward to as an opportunity to find out what their value will be on the open market.

Vikings right guard Mike Harris is not one of those players. Harris is coming off a year that saw him kick inside from tackle and start every game for the first time in his career, but he’s not eager to see how that will sell to the other 31 teams. Harris said he’d like to have a new deal with the Vikings done before the weekend is out.

“I see myself in Minnesota for the rest of my career,” Harris said, via Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. “That’s where I want to be. So hopefully we get the contract ready this weekend. I’m excited. It’s going to be a great season for the Vikings, and I want to be a part of it.”

Tomasson reports that Harris has been offered a two-year, $3.5 million contract from the Vikings, which represents a small bump from the $1.542 million he played for during the 2015 season. If he’s not willing to accept that, it may take a deviation from his goal and a few conversations with other teams to get an offer he likes from the team he wants.
