One of the potential big moves in free agency could be happening before free agency opens.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, former Bills defensive end Mario Williams is visiting the Dolphins today.

There figures to be competition for the 31-year-old pass-rusher, despite his drop-off in production last year. It’s easy to justify that as his being a bad scheme fit for the Bills under Rex Ryan, but there were also questions about his effort. He had 5.0 sacks last season after three straight double-digit sack seasons for the Bills, with 38.0 in his first three seasons there.

The Dolphins could just be looking for cover for transition-tagged Olivier Vernon getting an offer sheet they don’t want to match, but either way, they’re looking at a significant investment in their defensive line for the second straight offseason after signing Ndamukong Suh last offseason.
