Right tackle Joe Barksdale is set to remain with the San Diego Chargers.

According to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Barksdale said he reached an agreement with the Chargers on a four-year deal on Monday. He was set to become an unresticted free agent on Wednesday. The team announced the move on Monday night.

Barksdale was one of the few constants on an offensive line decimated by injuries in 2015. He started all 16 games for San Diego, though he split between right and left tackle as injuries required constant shuffling.

Barksdale has appeared in 48 consecutive games over the last three seasons with the Chargers and (formerly) St. Louis Rams.

The Raiders bailed on him to soon.

Good signing. Barksdale was the only consistent part of that offensive line last season. He was injured the least and had the most consistent play on the field. Now to address center and conditioning…

Between him at 325 and Fluker at 340 they should have had a solid right side to run behind. Fluker was injured early and often and wasn’t100%. Should be better next year.

Orlando Frankling at LG is also massive at 320. Just sign Stefan Wisniewski in FA and maybe Donald Penn at LT and the OL is set.

Good move, but I still won’t ever bet on the Chargers again.

Always think of the show “The Wire” when reading about Barksdale…they were a tough crew back in the day…
