Donald Stephenson is staying in the AFC West, but heading to Denver.
Stephenson, an offensive tackle who has spent his entire four-year career in Kansas City, is planning to sign with the Broncos tomorrow. Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports that the deal should get done tomorrow, the first official day of free agency.
The 27-year-old Stephenson played in all 16 games for the Chiefs last year and started seven. He’s likely to start for the Broncos next year.
Now Denver needs to figure out whether it has a quarterback for Stephenson to protect: Peyton Manning is retired, and Brock Osweiler officially becomes a free agent tomorrow.
