Steelers close to new deal with steady guard Ramon Foster

RAMON FOSTER ap AP

The Steelers continue to try to lock up their own guys, signing another veteran starter before the market opens this afternoon.

According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers are close to re-signing left guard Ramon Foster.

While hardly a splash move, he’s been a consistent player as they’ve stabilized their offensive line in recent years. He played every snap last season, and has started 87 after entering the league as an undrafted rookie from Tennessee. He’s only missed five games in the last five seasons after becoming a full-time starter.

The Steelers still have to deal with Kelvin Beachum or find a replacement, as their left tackle is hitting the market today. But a torn ACL suffered last season might make him easier to keep, at least on a short-term deal.

It’s too bad the Steelers won’t do anything of note in our lifetime, other than employing injury prone potheads.

Now that is what champions do. The Steelers are locked and loaded. Colbert has a plan. I love how this off season is shaping up!

No they don’t. Their future LT, Villenueva, is already on the roster.

The team that wears the black and gold’s offseason has been quite positive. It’s a shame we can’t say that for the team that wears the purple and black. That team is crumbling before our eyes, with no end in sight. Such a shame.

Yessssss. Keep all the players that played a role in the great Steeler decline. Can’t say he’s been there through the thick but definitely through the thin. Losing in the post season to the Rodgers’, the Tebows, the Flaccos, and the Mannings. He was also there for the great sweeps of 2011 and 2015. Great signing. LOL.

We are keeping the players that won more games than that pathetic franchise Baltimore who has no winning seasons and no playoff appearances since being bradyed out of the playoffs . At least Tomlinson knows what a formation is , which is more than I can say for that clown of a coach you have. Nuff said.

Our young friend who is obsessed with that quarterback down south and the team that wears the black and gold takes another mighty swing and misses once more. It’s becoming a regular occurrence.

I love the tools who don’t understand or value year-to-year consistency, it kind of betrays their lack of football knowledge. The teams that turn over their coaches and/or players every year are the ones who are sitting at home every year.

Foster has been durable, consistent and reliable. Although a much better pass blocker than run blocker, he’s a better than average guard who’s cerebral enough to play either guard position or tackle positions in a pinch. Pouncey is the athletic leader on the line, and DeCastro is the power leader, but Foster is the emotional leader. Glad to have him back and I hope he finishes his career in Pittsburgh.

    Go Steelers!

A little cherry picking? Guess you forgot him enjoying helping Ben throwing a record six tds against the criminals… Remember it well.
