Barron's move from safety to linebacker provides security and five-year, $45M deal.

After the Rams traded for Mark Barron in 2014, they moved him from safety to linebacker.

The experiment paid off as Barron saw his production spike over what he’d done in the secondary after the Buccaneers took him with the seventh overall pick of the 2012 draft. He’ll continue to play that role for the Rams in Los Angeles in 2016 and beyond.

According to multiple reports, Barron has re-signed with the Rams just before the start of the new league year. Ed Werder of ESPN reports that other teams pitched Barron on a return to safety, but he opted for a five-year, $45 million contract to stay where he is.

William Hayes didn’t have any position switches to ponder, but the defensive end was fielding interest from a variety of teams in recent days. He’s also staying put, however, with Josina Anderson of ESPN reporting that he got a three-year deal to remain with the team.
