Nolan Carroll visiting Cowboys Thursday

The Cowboys had a relatively quiet start to free agency on Wednesday as they secured the return of linebacker Rolando McClain without adding anyone from outside the organization.

Thursday is bringing a bit more activity in Dallas. Quarterback Matt Moore and defensive lineman Cedric Thornton are in for visits and the team announced that cornerback Nolan Carroll will be joining them.

Carroll played well in 11 starts for the Eagles last season before breaking his ankle and missing the rest of the regular season. He expects to be healthy enough to participate in some portion of offseason work.

The Cowboys have a need for corners with Orlando Scandrick coming back from a torn ACL, Morris Claiborne a free agent and Brandon Carr’s future with the team less than certain because of his big cap hit. That makes Carroll’s appeal to the Cowboys obvious, so we’ll see if he winds up as the newest member of the Cowboys before the day is out.
