Patriots hosting Rod Streater on Thursday

The Jets are scheduled to visit with wide receiver Rod Streater on Friday, but they won’t be the first AFC East team to talk to Streater this week.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Streater joined several other players visiting the Patriots on Thursday. Running back James Starks, running back Benny Cunningham, tight end Clay Harbor and wide receiver Chris Hogan were the others meeting with the team.

Streater only played in one game for the Raiders last season as he fell out of favor on offense during Jack Del Rio’s first year as head coach. A foot injury limited him to three games in 2014, so he’s probably not going to land much more than a chance to make a team this offseason.

The Patriots released Brandon LaFell early this month, leaving them with Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Keshawn Martin, Chris Harper and Aaron Dobson under contract at the position at the moment.

everyone feels like the patriots need reviever help and offensive line help but the only problem last year was injuries. I expect Keshawn Martin to become a much better reviver and if Aaron Dobson isn’t cut this offseason I would think Bill expects a big year out of him. Another receiver would be nice but a power back and a lucky break with the injury bug is all they need to be back in the super bowl.

Whoever he lands with will be happy. Team first guy I wish we had room in our offense for him

Streater seems like the kind of low risk potentially high reward inside guy that would interest the Ravens or Giants, surprised they haven’t been mentioned in connection with him

Yep Patriots were the only team with injuries.

This would be a great addition for NE. Good kid, hard worker. Just got phased out with Coop and Crabtree. Wish him the best and NE will really like him

If you’re banking on Aaron Dobson having a “big year” then you’re smoking some of that stuff Chandler Jones had.

Streater is a quality player that will enhance the receiving corps of any team that lands him. He is a player worth rooting for even if you don’t like whatever team is smart enough to include him on their roster.
