The Saints signed kicker Josh Scobee off the street last week, which ensured they’d have one veteran option for the kicking job in 2016.

They made that two options on Wednesday. Kicker Kai Forbath announced on Instagram that he’ll be back with the Saints, setting up a competition between two experienced players in the coming months.

Forbath signed with the Saints in October after Zach Hocker’s struggles led to his dismissal from the roster. Forbath, who also played one game with the Redskins last season, hit 9-of-13 field goals and made 33-of-34 extra points after arriving in New Orleans.

Forbath spent the first three years of his career in Washington and has been more accurate on field goals over the course of his career, making 69-of-82 tries overall. Getting his average back into that range once the Saints get back to work, he should have a good chance of retaining the job.
