The Bears signed Danny Trevathan already this week and they may not be done adding pieces at inside linebacker.

Chris Hagan of FOX59 and Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune both report that the Bears will host linebacker Jerrell Freeman on Friday. Hagan adds that Freeman has been talking to the Colts about remaining with the team, but that those talks are at a “stand still.”

Freeman has been a starter for the Colts since signing with the team in 2012 after spending three seasons in the CFL. He’s coming off a strong season in the middle of the Indy defense that saw him record 112 tackles and three sacks while also returning his only interception of the season for a touchdown.

Freeman said before free agency opened that he’d be happy to stay with the Colts, but that he also wants “to do what’s best for me” financially in what’s likely to be the 29-year-old’s best chance to land a sizable, multi-year contract. Hagan reports the Giants and Falcons are also “in the mix” for Freeman.
