The Broncos have lost a lot from their championship roster, but they won’t lose outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware.
Ware has agreed to a pay cut to stay with the Broncos, according to ESPN. There had previously been reports that Ware could get cut if he refused to take a pay cut. Ware, who will turn 34 this season, was scheduled to count $11.7 million against the Broncos’ salary cap.
With Ware on one side and Von Miller on the other, the Broncos had the NFL’s most ferocious pass rush. Ware had 7.5 sacks in the regular season (despite missing five games) and added 3.5 sacks in the postseason.
Now that pass rush will be back, with Miller staying either on the one-year franchise tag or on a long-term deal, and Ware staying at a reduced salary. The Broncos have suffered a lot of losses in the last week, but their edge pass rushers will remain in place.
