Lions sign safety Rafael Bush

Free agent safety Rafael Bush is heading to Detroit.

Bush, who played the last four years for the Saints, is signing with the Lions, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. It’s a one-year contract worth up to $2.4 million.

The 28-year-old Bush started the first game of the season for the Saints last year but suffered a torn pectoral in that game and was lost for the season.

Bush wore No. 25 for the Saints, allowing Saints fans who bought Reggie Bush jerseys to keep wearing them for another Bush on the team. Reggie Bush wore No. 21 for the Lions, but Rafael won’t get that number. It’s already taken by Ameer Abdullah.

Now get some offensive line help, Quinn.

Clever writing about the Jersey Numbers. We fans do think about that stuff. I was working in Mexico City and I saw about a half dozen folks sporting “Culpepper” Dolphins Jerseys and it made me laugh. This merchandise has to go somewhere after the Cuts and Trades.

NFL “fans” who give a damn about jersey numbers are part of the problem.

Good signing. Our offense will be fine. O-line depth would be great.

I am underwhelmed by this signing. Solid, yes but I was a big fan of IAQ and we need OL help more than ever for Matty boy now that my namesake has retired.

Adding more trash to fill the void of that 1 year wonder decent defense in Detroit.

With the Megatron retirement, they had over $40 million in cap space. New GM likely to keep making moves. Nothing crazy long term yet, so that is good.

Love the Jones deal, hate that they are bringing back Nata, and this could turn out to be a bargain for the year if he recovered well.
