The Panthers took a look at Paul Soliai over the weekend, and after a day to think about it, asked him to come back.
According to agent David Canter, the former Falcons nose tackle has signed with the Panthers. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, it’s a two-year deal worth $7 million.
Soliai was one of the Falcons big acquisitions early in free agency two years ago, but didn’t fit new coach Dan Quinn’s defense last year and quickly became replaceable.
The Panthers needed depth in the middle, and Soliai gives them another big piece behind starters Kawann Short and Star Lotulelei.
The Panthers had released veteran Dwan Edwards, and now have a reliable run defenders behind their young stars.
