The Seattle Seahawks will have a new long snapper for the first time in seven years as the team released veteran long snapper Clint Gresham on Wednesday.

Gresham has been the only long snapper the Seahawks have had since Pete Carroll took over as head coach in 2010. He’s appeared in 96 straight games for Seattle and signed a new three-year contract with the club prior to last season.

However, Gresham had some issues last season at times. A poor punt snap led to the Minnesota Vikings taking an early lead and punter Jon Ryan suffering a broken nose in the Wild Card playoff game between the two teams in January. A few other errant snaps affected kicks by Steven Hauschka as well.

Seattle signed snapper Andrew East to a futures contract in January. East spent the 2015 offseason with the Kansas City Chiefs but was released at the end of training camp. He could be the first option in line to replace Gresham this season.

Recently signed offensive lineman Bradley Sowell can snap as well.
