Josh Hill visits Bears

The Bears traded a tight end away last week when they sent Martellus Bennett to the Patriots, which left them with an open spot on the depth chart after re-signing Zach Miller.

One option to fill that role could be Saints restricted free agent Josh Hill. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Hill visited the Bears on Monday.

Hill got some buzz heading into last season after the Saints traded Jimmy Graham, but Benjamin Watson became the lead receiving option at the position in the regular season. Hill played all 16 games, starting seven times, and caught 16 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns while playing a complementary role to Watson.

He was tendered at the lowest level, which means the Saints could match an offer from the Bears but wouldn’t be due any compensation. Hill, who also visited the Jets last week, signed with New Orleans as an undrafted free agent when Bears General Manager Ryan Pace was a member of the Saints’ front office.

Ryan Pace and John Fox are pulling a Chip Kelly and dumping all the Bears’ talent for crappy late-round picks, just because they’re not competent enough to handle a couple of guys who maybe don’t always just automatically tow the company line.

Brandon Marshall was traded to the Jets for like a crappy 5th round pick or something, and then had an All-Pro caliber season in NY. Bennett just got dumped onto the Patriots for another crappy late-round draft pick. And Matt Forte they decided was not worth spending a measly $4mill a year on, when he’s still good for another 2 years and he’s been a Bear for life and they do have cap space. No, you don’t need those guys – Josh Hill will get you to the promised land.

The Bennet and Marshall were both short time fixes. No doubt that they are talented, but there is a reason why neither of them can remain on a team for more than a few seasons…

Fox and Pace both have a lot more history of winning than bennett and Marshall. No one denies they’re talent players. But Marshall is a loose cannon and Bennett was just flat out weird. His brother is the same way in Seattle. Never happy

Bennet and Marshall are talented round pegs that didn’t fit the Bears. Both were negative. Good solid moves to cut ties and move on. Bennett will have a big year in NE but will fizzle like he always does.

Pace has done a tremendous job in free agency this year! Not over spending and bringing in young quality talent, and he has to be one of the best if not the best GM in Bears history last years draft depending on White, which I think he’s going to be a beast but he hit on the first 5 picks! I can’t remember the last time we hit on 5 picks in 5 years, other than Jeffery, Fuller, and ?? Just been a lot of athletes that end getting cut. This year I hope we draft Stanley to anchor down the O-line, not a sexy pick but Jay deserves a good stout line for once and pair that with a pretty good defense we will see better play from Jay
