Report: “Zero chance” NFL gives back pick it took from Patriots

Patriots owner Robert Kraft didn’t elaborate today when asked if commissioner Roger Goodell responded to his letter asking for his first-round pick back.

It sounds like it wouldn’t take much paper for Goodell to respond.

According to Judy Battista of the NFL Network, an NFL source said there was “zero chance” the Patriots would get the pick back.

While that seemed like the likeliest outcome from the start, the swiftness of reply remains impressive.

Kraft would seem to have had a decent leg to stand on, what with the flimsy science and series of legal losses the league has endured of late. But he also offered himself up to the altar of the league when he accepted the team’s punishment of a $1 million fine and the loss of a first- and fourth-rounder for their role in the “more likely than not” Deflategate.

And that made the chances of him getting the 29th pick close to, well, zero anyway.
