Seahawks add long snapper Drew Ferris

The Seattle Seahawks signed former University of Florida long snapper Drew Ferris on Thursday as the team looks for a new long snapper for the first time in six years.

Seattle released veteran Clint Gresham last week after snapping in 96 consecutive regular season games. The Seahawks had signed Gresham to a new three-year contract prior to the 2015 season.

Ferris briefly spent time in rookie mini-camp with the New York Jets last year after going undrafted out of Florida.

He joins Andrew East on the Seahawks offseason roster. East was signed to a futures contract in January. The two will compete for the chance to replace Gresham this season.

Hope he adjusts to the mandatory performance enhancers and bandwagon fans quickly.

Obviously, Nate Boyer’s cell reception is too weak while he’s saving puppies on Mt. Kilimanjaro. Should have gone with a different carrier…

Still wish someone would ask Coach Carroll why Clint was cut…..? Has to be more than what was put out there…..

It is strictly a cost cutting move. If Gresham was not performing up to par, they would cut him after he loses his job in training camp. Instead they cut him before they know who may be good enough to succeed him.

The Gresham era is over. Now the window is closed.

This totally reeks of salary maneuvers even though the position isn’t really a high paying one. Coach doesn’t like paying veteran money to average players.
