The Chargers won’t have Eric Weddle back at safety for the 2016 season, but they will have Jahleel Addae.

The team announced that Addae signed his restricted free agent tender on Thursday, closing the door on the possibility of signing with another team. Addae was tendered at the second-round level, leaving him set to $2.553 million with San Diego this season.

Addae started 12 games for the Chargers last season and had 65 tackles, four passes defensed and a sack. He started seven games in his first two seasons with the Chargers after originally joining the team as an undrafted free agent out of Central Michigan.

The Chargers signed Dwight Lowery earlier this month and they’d probably go with a Lowery/Addae tandem at safety if the season started today. Adrian Phillips, Craig Mager and Darrell Stuckey are also on the depth chart.
