Steve Bisciotti: Ravens need younger pass rushers

The Ravens expect to have linebacker Terrell Suggs back in the lineup after last year’s torn Achilles and his return would restore an effective pass-rushing tandem with Elvis Dumervil.

Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti is looking forward to Suggs’ return, but he doesn’t think that will satisfy all the team’s needs on the pass rushing front. Bisciotti notes that both Suggs and Dumervil are closing in on the end of their careers and says the team needs to bring in more players to complement them now before possibly replacing them down the line.

“We have two very dynamic, productive players that are at the age where you don’t know if you’re going to get one year or three years left in them,” Bisciotti said, via the team’s website. “We have to fill those spots with constant pressure. You need five pass rushers in the rotation.”

The Ravens are well positioned to pick up one of the extra pass rushers Bisciotti wants in the draft. The sixth pick could bring Ohio State’s Joey Bosa or Oregon’s DeForest Buckner, either of whom would give the Ravens a deeper crop of pass rushers to throw at opposing offenses come September.

You’re right. Wide receivers and offensive linemen to protect that elite QB of yours wouldn’t be correct at all.

    See you soon JOE.

    DeForest Buckner is from Oregon…

At this point they need a younger EVERYTHING – and all their doing is adding age for some reason. The team locker room is starting to resemble an old-age home!!! LOL!!!

Get a pass rusher in the 2nd round. First round has to be an OL. Gotta keep Flacco safe. He got hurt last year because an undrafted LT was playing every down. I’m actually fine with the money he’s making but only if you invest in keeping him upright.

Ozzie doesn’t let Steve make decisions. Eric maybe but not Steve. Steve’s job is to write and cash checks.

They need to be younger in practical every position. This team is old and slow.

At least John Harbaugh is middle-aged…

You are really obsessed with age….and the Ravens, it seems…

Judging by all the Steeler trolls I see they’re still Butthurt about being swept by an injury ridden 5 win team. Love it! Yeah, we’ll see you and sweep you again, real soon.

Be prepared to take the federal stand in Brady’s defamation suit so we can know if you were in on Harbaugh’s little plan with Pagano or not.

You can’t hide your phone or computer, so you best hope any discussion about the framejob, if you were aware of it, Bisciotti, happened in person and not on text or email.

    See you in court.

Ravens are smart. They’re in the thick of things five out of every six years, but in that off year they’re god awful, which means they’ve always got a t0p 10 draft guy suiting up for them.

  11. pftbro says: Mar 25, 2016 12:13 PM

Stay out of the draft room, Steve…

You could always head downtown to the one of many prisons in your dump of a state and take a few inmates.
Your entire team is filled with murders, cheaters and women beaters.

Young pass rushers mean extra pain for grandpa Brady in the playoffs, ouch.

Unless you’re the Patriots or…no just the Patriots, you wish your team had the success of the last 10 years that the Ravens have. Numbers don’t lie.

“T-Sizzle” is done. He’ll either still be injured, crashing his car, or in jail for beating his wife…again.

    Stay classy, ravens.

Maryland is a wealthy state and has a surplus of activities for any individual. Only a loser from a place like Kansas would bash any of the other 49 states.

Ozzie Newsome has destroyed that team since Ray Ray and Ed Reed, two HOFers, retired.

Look at the amount of draft BUSTS in recent years.

    My goodness.

I said this for several years now “OLD AND SLOW” now you own owner is saying it??? They keep signing older players? what happen to the wizard GM Ozzie? draft picks suck lately? no cash to sign anyone anyways…..irrelevant ravens

Well apparently Tom Brady can hide his cell phone – or destroy it.

That 2012 SB, 3 AFCCG since 08, and nearly another in 2014 are abysmal. Not to mention the most comp picks in NFL history. What a terrible track record.

    This guy gets it.

  22. surfinbird1 says: Mar 25, 2016 1:39 PM

Have Harbaugh go for another rule change. Any team playing the Ravens must field players over 35 yrs old.

  23. steamingpilerex says: Mar 25, 2016 1:44 PM

Hey Bisciotti : I got one here in Miami, very, very low mileage – practically garage kept – goes by the name Dion Jordon, you may have heard my predecessor moved up the draft to get him & well he ain’t worked out so well here in South Florida, so maybe a change a scenery would do him good? Get with John & let me know if your interested? — M.Tannenbaum….P.S. as a bonus I’ll throw in Dallas Thomas for just one box of crackers.

  24. hakunamangata says: Mar 25, 2016 1:58 PM

Players over the age of 30?

    8.

Steve Smith, Ben Watson, Suggs, Doom, Koch, Weddle, Yanda, Flacco.

    30 or under?

    50.

    Yup, Ravens certainly are old.

  25. crownofthehelmet says: Mar 25, 2016 2:31 PM

Translation: we must stockpile rookies and undrafted free agents to offset some of those ridiculous veteran contracts.

  26. youknowiknowitall says: Mar 25, 2016 5:31 PM

they need young pass rushers …
and someone a little more competent than The Little Coach That Couldn’t running their sidelines.

  27. ( . Y . ) says: Mar 25, 2016 7:24 PM

So maybe they can plan another sting operation against the pats and get Goodell to give the Ravens some of the Patriots pass rushers?

  28. boltergeist19 says: Mar 27, 2016 4:57 AM

It’s a matter of time before this team is relegated to the bottom of the North division. A once proud drafted player after player are now signing old aged players who will spend more time not practicing and game time decisions. Players aren’t staying and the extra picks they are receiving are not panning out let alone their regular draft picks. Maxx Williams was god awful as well as Elam, and they let all the receivers go to bring in older malcontents. They have no blockers but Yanda to protect there over paid QB, no running game and who is going to rush the QB? Elvis? Don’t think so, they have to hit big this year in the draft cause the avg age was 26 last year is no 32 it seems. Jar ough should be out in 2 years and will find another coaching job. And might find his way like his brother to D-1 rather then the NFL. He will have control and has his ring so why spend 1000 hrs a week killing yourself. Coaching is going to be like playing, they will get a quick ring, and get paid and then boy out sooner then later. This is why Cower never came back 15 years in it and left at the right time. Started young enough to enjoy his twilight years not grinding away and perhaps shortening his life. I think of Tom coughlin of late and guys like this don’t know what to do with themselves when they are forced out but I remember when my grandfather retired he passed away 6 months later. If they have another bad season I would bow out gracefully. What else do you want to do while you still have time. This team is not a year better they are a year older. Wow they are old.
