Willie Colon doesn’t want to retire, in case anyone was wondering

Some players actively choose to retire, and some have that decision made for them by 32 teams.

So someone close to Willie Colon wants to remind those teams that Willie Colon is still available.

According to Darryl Slater of NJ.com, a source with knowledge of the situation said that Colon does not intend to retire, hoping to play again this year.

The soon-to-be-33-year-old Colon has been a solid player for the Jets the last three years, after he came over from Pittsburgh.

After the season, Colon admitted he was thinking about retiring, after a .knee injury limited him to six games. But even then, he said the lure of returning was strong.

“But that’s my mind talking and my heart,” Colon said then. “And my body may be saying something else. I have to be sensitive about that. It’s up in the air. I don’t know if I’m coming back or not, or what I’ll do. I’m just going to take this offseason and just listen to myself.”

So far, the market has been talking to Colon, and the lack of noise so far likely prompted him to remind some people he was still out there.
