The Chiefs could be without Justin Houston for much if not all of the coming season and they lost cornerback Sean Smith in free agency, so they’re looking high and low for defensive reinforcements.

According to Adam Caplan of ESPN, the Chiefs worked out defensive end Da’Quan Bowers and cornerback Phillip Adams yesterday.

Bowers, a former second-round pick of the Buccaneers, has been on and off rosters lately, but has managed to stay employed. He’s never shown the kind of pass-rush burst since a knee injury at Clemson (7.0 sacks in five NFL seasons), but has become a serviceable interior player.

Adams attained journeyman status years ago, having spent time with the 49ers, Patriots, Seahawks, Raiders, Seahawks again, Jets and Falcons.
