Mark Sanchez ready to compete for Broncos starting job, with anyone

Mike Florio says it's a possibility that Sanchez wins the starting job for the Broncos.

The Broncos are clearly bringing in someone at quarterback, whether it’s Colin Kaepernick or a draft pick.

But whoever it happens to be, Mark Sanchez is ready to compete with them.

The veteran quarterback told Troy Renck of the Denver Post that he believes he’ll have a chance to compete for the starting job.

“Listen, I don’t care who is there, what is going on right now,” Sanchez said. “They are going to give me a fair shake, that’s all I can ask for, a fair shot. I am good. Let’s go. I will bet on myself and compete my butt off.

“I will be friendly and professional with whoever is there. But I want this bad. Really bad. I want what they experienced last year.”

Sanchez has gathered a bunch of Broncos pass-catchers in California to get a head start on that competition, with Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas helping bring guys to Mission Viejo.

“One, it’s just to be around each other. That’s important. It sounds like they have that family atmosphere in Denver. They talk about the locker room and it sounds fun. It’s because of stuff like this,” Sanchez said. “They get together in the offseason, and make sacrifices with their time and their money and travel to do that. Emmanuel and Demaryius were awesome, saying, ‘Let me call so and so.’ They’ve been great.”

Regardless your opinion of Sanchez’s abilities, there’s at least some chance the Broncos would have won a Super Bowl last year with him under center. He’s at least won some games in the playoffs (four of them, on the road), though it was a long time ago.
