With the April 22 deadline to sign offer sheets with other clubs approaching and offseason workout programs starting, we’ve seen several restricted free agents sign their tenders in preparation for another year with their current clubs.
The Cowboys and safety Jeff Heath are going a bit further. Heath’s agent Derrick Fox said Wednesday, via Todd Archer of ESPN.com, that his client has agreed to a four-year deal with the Cowboys. There are no details of the financial terms for Heath, who was set to make $1.671 million under the tender offer.
Heath has played in 46 of the 48 regular season games the Cowboys have played since signing him as an undrafted free agent out of Saginaw Valley State in 2013. He’s been a reserve safety and special teams regular over that span, making 103 tackles and intercepting three passes.
Guard Ronald Leary is the remaining unsigned restricted free agent in Dallas. He got a second-round tender and is expected back with the Cowboys.
