The start of the offseason workout program is a popular time for restricted free agents to sign their tender offers and the members of the Cardinals in that position followed the trend on Monday.
The team announced that safety Tony Jefferson, wide receiver Jaron Brown and safety D.J. Swearinger have all signed their tenders. All three of them were tendered at the lowest level, which leaves them set to make $1.671 million during the 2016 season.
Jefferson started seven of the team’s regular season games last season and both of their playoff outings. He finished the year with 78 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions and three forced fumbles. Swearinger played four games after joining the Cardinals in the second half of the season and made seven tackles.
With Rashad Johnson now in Tennessee and Tyrann Mathieu likely to be limited over the summer because of last year’s torn ACL, both should have chances to earn a fair amount of playing time over the summer.
Brown had 11 catches for 144 yards and a touchdown last year. He should retain his spot as the fourth receiver on the team’s depth chart.
