The Cardinals were one of the teams that held their rookie minicamp over the weekend and they found a couple of tryout players they felt like keeping around during the three-day session.

The team announced that they have signed running back Elijhaa Penny and wide receiver Chris Hubert. They made room on the roster for the new arrivals by waiving running back Jared Baker, who was signed last week, and linebacker Mike Reilly.

Penny ran the ball 246 times for 1,159 yards and 10 touchdowns at Idaho last season and is a big back at 6'2" and 234 pounds. It’s not going to be easy to make the team in a backfield that already includes David Johnson, Chris Johnson, Andre Ellington and Stepfan Taylor, however.

Hubert played at Fayetteville State in college and finished last season with 71 catches for 862 yards and 13 touchdowns. He faces a similar uphill climb through a deep receiving corps, but he’ll get his chance to continue impressing the Cardinals staff over the rest of the offseason program.
