Jack Trudeau gets jail time and probation after pleading guilty to DUI

Former NFL quarterback Jack Trudeau has apparently gotten his life back together. But he still has some jail time to do first.

According to Madeline Buckley of the Indianapolis Star, Trudeau was sentenced to three more days in the county jail and two years of probation after pleading guilty to misdemeanor counts of drunk driving and intimidating a police officer.

When he was arrested last year, Trudeau was belligerent with police, telling an officer he was “going to light [him] up” and threatening to “kill” him.

That might have had something to do with the 0.31 blood-alcohol level on a portable meter, though he later refused chemical tests and a blood draw. It was his second DUI arrest, and the judge suspended his license for 90 days in addition to the jail time and probation.

But his lawyer said in court that Trudeau has been in treatment for alcoholism since then, and apologized to the arresting officer he was so abusive to. He also suggested that Trudeau’s eight concussions during his playing days may have been a factor.

“He’s very regretful of his behavior,” attorney Dan Coffey said. “He has really turned it around from a year ago. . . .

“He is profoundly sorry. Jack wanted to go out of his way to apologize to the officer and did that today in open court.”

Trudeau spent 10 years in the league, the first eight with the Colts before short stints with the Panthers and Jets.
