Report: Bench warrant was issued for Jerramy Stevens

Jerramy Stevens

Former Seahawks and Buccaneers tight end Jerramy Stevens has had a bench warrant issued for his arrest over a probation violation stemming from his 2015 drunk driving conviction, TMZ reports.

Last year, Stevens was busted driving a USA Soccer van while drunk, with his wife, USA Soccer goalie Hope Solo, in the passenger seat. Stevens was sentenced to four years’ probation and ordered to undergo alcohol treatment, but when the court did not receive a progress report on his alcohol treatment, a judge revoked the probation and ordered his arrest.

Stevens has a long criminal history. In high school he was convicted of misdemeanor assault for stomping on the face of another teenager who was lying on the ground after a friend of Stevens hit him with a baseball bat. He also tested positive for marijuana while in home detention in connection with that case. In college he was accused of sexual assault, although prosecutors declined to press charges. While with the Seahawks he was convicted of drunk driving. While with the Buccaneers he was arrested for marijuana possession. After his NFL career ended he was arrested once for allegedly punching bouncers outside at a bar and once for violating his parole. He has also been arrested for allegedly assaulting Solo on the day before they were married.

A 2002 first-round draft pick of the Seahawks, Stevens caught 202 passes for 2,217 yards and 22 touchdowns in his career.

UPDATE 10:30 a.m. ET: Stevens’ attorney Craig Renetzky tells TMZ that the issue was a “communication glitch” between the court and the alcohol program, adding that Stevens “is doing everything he’s supposed to be doing but the alcohol program didn’t get the court [the official progress report].”

UPDATE 3:42 p.m. ET: The warrant has been withdrawn.
