There’s been some confusion regarding exactly when Jaguars rookie defensive back Jalen Ramsey suffered a torn meniscus in his knee. Our goal is to clear up that confusion. Instead of causing even more of it. For a change.
ESPN has reported that Ramsey’s injury happened “during Phase 2 of the conditioning program May 6-7.” Apart from the fact that Ramsey was participating not in Phase 2 of the offseason program but rookie minicamp on May 6-7, it didn’t happen then.
According to the Jaguars, the injury happened earlier this week, during a Phase 2 workout. While that doesn’t change the fact that Ramsey was injured, it erases the perception that the Jaguars endured a knee injury to a top-five draft pick at two straight rookie minicamps, despite a conscious effort to make rookie minicamp less physically demanding.
For now, Ramsey is due to have a second opinion regarding the injury next week. The end result could be surgery.
