Broncos wideout Cody Latimer calls cops on girlfriend, bails her out

AP

Broncos wide receiver Cody Latimer called the cops on his girlfriend, and ended up in trouble himself.

According to Mike Klis and Jeremy Jojola of KUSA, Latimer was arrested for failing to appear in court to pay an old traffic ticket, leading to him paying $311.50 to settle that charge.

But that was the ordinary part of the day. According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, Latimer called the cops at 2:40 a.m. Monday, saying his girlfriend “put her hands on him.”

His girlfriend, 25-year-old Jaimee Rando, was arrested for assault and disturbing the peace. But Latimer posted her bail on Tuesday afternoon.

He wasn’t at Broncos practice Tuesday, with coach Gary Kubiak saying it was for personal reasons. Latimer has been a disappointment on the field, as the former second-rounder has just eight catches in two seasons.

Even though it ended up costing him $311, smart move to call the cops first rather than take matters into his own hands before the situation escalated.

So…back to 0 on the arrest meter? Or do traffic tickets not count?

He’s fighting for a roster spot this year.

His excellent special team’s play kept him on the team last year, not his receiving.

Calling the cops when a domestic situation starts to spin out of control seems like the smart thing to do. If he didn’t, the story may have reversed, costing him far more than $311.5o

Best $311 he’ll ever spend. Now, be smarter still and find a new girl

Cody called the cops because his Mom wasn’t answering her phone.

Yea… it’s so smart to call the police on someone and then bail them out of jail! That’s not even allowed in most places.

Difficult and terrible situation. No Joke. I’m not sure how you handle this or what the NFL is telling their players to do when this happens. This may be what the NFL pamphlet says. Dunno. What I do know is the kid can’t catch. A Macys mannequin has more fluid motion than him. Anyway, glad nobody got hurt.

So you’re implying the only thing he really caught the last couple years was a punch to the face by his GF.

If he was really smart he would get rid of her right now. Once the police have to regulate your relationship it’s time to go.

Good Idea, if he tries to restrain her then she could make it look like he hit her.

I wonder if he payed the bail money under the table? The organization and G.M. he plays for can teach him all about that.

“men in the 1800s would have handled this by themselves”

Well those men would have gotten in alot of trouble in today’s NFL and world, and if handling it by themselves meant putting their hands on a woman, then they are not much of a man.

  23. reprob8 says: Jun 1, 2016 4:38 AM

odds are that this won’t be the last time cops are called regarding this pair. “crazy” will find a way to retaliate. he should have left her in jail, put her belongings in a box, left them on the curb & changed the locks.

  24. mrtog says: Jun 1, 2016 8:01 AM

Kudos to the young man for handling it the right way. Unfortunately too many men (and women) will ridicule him as weak for going this route.

I know there is more to the story but arresting the VICTIM of domestic assault seems to be a wrong signal to send.

Calling the police, as others have said, seems the responsible thing to do but it starts a process you can no longer control. In fact, the mere calling of the police on someone, can derail their career whether there is guilt or not. It also can backfire. The cops can listen to both parties and choose which one is more believable and take the other to jail.

Another choice is to leave the house. Not every dispute required “the cops”.

Glad no one was hurt here.

Did the smart thing. I should have built a case against my now-ex when she got batsugar crazy chasing me with knives, knitting needles, sharpened pencils, jeez what else- screaming, crying, and cussing over…..who knows what…..

Would’ve kept the house and kids…..

    Was he on his knees?

Sounds like my neighbor.. His bipolar gf calls the cops on him every other week… Cops make her leave and he lets her come back every time… PATHETIC!
