The Jets will have a new left tackle for the first time since 2006 with D’Brickashaw Ferguson retiring and Ryan Clady joining the team after a trade with the Broncos.

Clady has played at a high level in the past, but missed all of last season with a torn ACL and all but two games of the 2013 season with a foot injury. He was medically cleared to resume football activities in April and it appears he’s avoided any setbacks in the last few weeks.

Multiple reporters at Wednesday’s Jets practice report that Clady is getting work in 11-on-11 drills for the first time this offseason. It’s a good sign that Clady is either at or very close to 100 percent physically and that he should be good to go for everything once training camp gets underway.

Clady signed a two-year deal with the Jets following the trade and is set to make $6 million this year with more money available in incentives. That salary would rise to $12 million in 2017, although that money isn’t guaranteed so Clady will have to remain healthy to remain with the Jets for a second season.
