Raiders owner Mark Davis is focused on moving his team to Las Vegas. So focused that, even if an Oakland stadium plan were to instantly emerge, Davis wouldn’t stop trying to take the team to Las Vegas.
“No, I would not, and I’ve made that clear,” Davis told the Las Vegas Review-Journal during a Friday visit to a 105-degree Sin City. “The opportunity came up in Las Vegas, and we’re giving it full bore. This is not a pawn in a game. We are serious.”
The question is whether the local taxpayers are serious.
“The main thing is finding out if the public contribution is going to be there,” Davis said. “Whatever private money is needed, we’ll come up with that.”
Last month, Davis said that a Las Vegas move would “unite the Raider nation,” and that he’ll make the move to Nevada if the project comes together financially.
Still, while Davis may not flinch if Oakland blinks, other owners might. If enough do, Davis could have a hard time getting official permission to relocate to Las Vegas.
