The Eagles never seemed worried about veteran running back/returner Darren Sproles skipping a few OTAs, and once it became mandatory, sure enough, he showed up.

According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sproles reported to the Eagles’ facility on Monday for a mandatory minicamp which begins tomorrow.

Sproles described his absence as “family stuff,” and denied that he was staying away because he wanted a new contract or to be traded. He added that the Eagles “were cool with it.”

Of course, staying away this week would have cost him a cool $76,580 in fines for missing the one mandatory minicamp teams can declare.

The Eagles insisted they had no problem with his absence, which means the only remaining drama is whether or when defensive tackle Fletcher Cox shows up. They think he will, despite the lack of movement on a new contract.
