The 49ers will hold joint training camp practices with the Broncos and Texans before the teams play preseason games this August, 49ers coach Chip Kelly told reporters Tuesday.

The 49ers open the preseason at home vs. the Texans Aug. 14 then are at Denver the following week, so it’s safe to assume the practices will be in Santa Clara 2-3 days before the 49ers-Texans game and in Denver the following week.

The Eagles practiced with the Patriots and Ravens during Kelly’s time with the Eagles.

“I just think it’s a chance to see other guys, a chance to see different schemes,” Kelly said, per the team’s official transcript. “I’ve always been a big fan of it. My time in Philly, we did it with New England for two years and...it was great because we were on the same page. And then we had a real good session last year when we did it with the Ravens.

“So, as long as the coaches kind of agree to the format in terms of what’s going on, I think you can get a lot of positives out of it and I know [Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien] and [Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak] really well. We’re excited about the opportunities to go do that.”
