The neck injury that ended the 2015 season for veteran guard Ben Grubbs is also likely to end his career, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday.
The Chiefs released Grubbs in March with a failed physical designation. The injury limited him to seven games last season.
Grubbs, 32, started 125 of 129 career games, went to two Pro Bowls and was a part of five playoff teams.
A first-round pick of the Ravens in 2007, Grubbs played five seasons for the Ravens and three for the Saints. The Chiefs traded for Grubbs in March 2015 and gave him a new four-year contract. He was placed on injured-reserve last December after his neck injury didn’t respond to rehab and treatments.
