The day didn’t start well for Kenyan Drake, but when it ended, he was officially a pro football player.

Via Mark Inabinett of al.com, the Dolphins third-round pick signed his rookie contract Wednesday, hours after leaving the field with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

Drake came up hobbling during special teams drills, and didn’t return to practice after being checked by trainers.

Drake missed time in college at Alabama because of a broken leg and a broken arm.

While he was a backup in college (behind Derrick Henry and T.J. Yeldon), the Dolphins hope he can fill a role behind running back Jay Ajayi and contribute to the return game as well.
