The Saints have added some veteran depth to their rebuilding defense.

Darryl Tapp, a defensive end who played all 16 games for the Lions last season, has signed with the Saints, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

A 2006 second-round pick of the Seahawks, Tapp played his best years in Seattle, from 2006 to 2009. He has mostly been a backup since then in Philadelphia, Washington and Detroit.

In New Orleans, Tapp will compete for a roster depth behind incumbent starters Cameron Jordan and Bobby Richardson.
