The Giants have hopes of snapping their four-year playoff drought this season and wide receiver Odell Beckham is one of the players that they’ll be counting on to bring them better results.

That importance to the team makes word of his departure from Sunday’s practice a worrisome development for the team.

Multiple reporters at Giants camp report that Beckham collided with cornerback Janoris Jenkins during a drill. Beckham stayed down while trainers took a look at him and then went to the sideline for further evaluation. Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com shared video of Beckham stretching out his legs on the side before he left practice altogether.

There’s no update on his condition at this point and the Giants may be erring on the side of caution with a player they can’t afford to lose, although the prospect of something more serious will lead to some holding of breath among the faithful until there’s further news about Beckham’s status.

The Giants are not scheduled to practice on Monday.
