Nick Foles really wanted to wiggle free from his commitment to the Rams.
Per multiple sources, Foles gave up $750,000 in fully-guaranteed salary to secure his release. The move dropped his guaranteed pay from $1.75 million to $1 million for 2016.
As to the $1 million, offset language applies. Thus, the Rams will get a credit for the first $1 million he earns elsewhere.
But his break-even point is $1.75 million. That’s how much he would have earned if he’d stayed with the Rams or forced them to cut him. So if/when the Cowboys or anyone else call, it’s safe to say he’s going to be hoping to get at least $1.75 million in 2016 pay.
