Trent Richardson goes unclaimed on waivers

Well, if the Ravens are serious about potentially bringing back running back Trent Richardson, they’ll be able to do it. Per multiple reports, Richardson went unclaimed on waivers a day after being cut by Baltimore.

This means that, of the 2,880 playing jobs currently available in the NFL, Richardson isn’t deemed to be good enough to have one of them.

Injuries could change that. But even if he joins a training camp between now and Labor Day weekend, Richardson will have a hard time surviving the cut from 90 to 53.

And so continues the puzzling fall from grace for a player for whom the Browns and Colts each gave up a first-round pick. Like many former NFL players, Richardson may be the last one to realize that, indeed, he’s a former NFL player.
