Antonio Brown nearly ejected from joint practice for conduct toward official

AP

With officials now encouraged to eject players from games whose behavior crosses the line, they nearly got some practice during a joint training-camp session between the Lions and Steelers.

Via Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Steelers receiver Antonio Brown was nearly ejected for his behavior toward an official hired to work the practice.

According to Adamski, Brown would have been ejected from a normal game, and the official plans to report Brown to the league office. Typically, however, the league office takes a hands-off approach to things that occur during training-camp practice, deferring instead to the team.

But if the team won’t do anything, the league office should — especially when people other than team employees are the targets of the misbehavior.

Be nice toward the officials; most of them are one tape on the shoulder away from being admitted to a nursing home.

Officials already ruin regular season games, post season games, preseason games…..and now practice too?

  4. enoughofthatalready says: Aug 10, 2016 8:35 PM

Brown has been lighting it up all camp so far and has the coaches, his players and the Lions players in awe. He has also been very vocal about it too on the field. This “infraction” is no doubt due to taunting. The only thing that is going to stop Brown this year is the officials ejecting him for taunting or Burfict illegally using his shoulder again.

Don’t worry folks; he wears yellow & black; which means this’ll get waived off.

Tomlin will speak to Rooney; who’ll speak to Goodell; who’ll have a word with Blandino; who’ll come up with a cute little rule change, and it’ll all be good.

What does one have to do to get ejected from practice? I mean Bill Romanowski once hit Marcus Williams with his own helmet and he didn’t get ejected from practice….

The officials should be ejected for egregious calls that cross the line.

WTH? Really? Maybe too much time hanging around them women on DWTS and his cycle sinker.

As most steelers are, he’s a classless turd.

the teflonsteelers huh. Seems to me they were the only team in the league to vote against the CBA. Now why could that be. Could it have been Goodell was riding them hard and suspending and dining any of them that got out of line? Ignore that though right. I mean it doesn’t fit into you conspiracy theory. Give me a break Harrison got suspended for a close not hard call on Brees. Many questioned if a flag should have even been thrown. Let’s see Big Ben is still the only player to be suspended but not arrested. Even by their standard today they couldn’t have suspended Ben. But yeah other than those glaring holes in your story Goodell lives the Steelers. Goodell seams to be really hard on the Steelers and Patriots who he loves.

No doubt some comments are from Bunhles and rat bird fans.
AB isn’t on steroids either. You don’t have to be big to play WR but quick, fast and good hands are important,
What will Ravens and Bungles do to stop AB and the dynamic Steelers offense.
I see a seventh Lombardi trophy coming to Pittsburgh in February as long as we stay healthy and Burfict doesn’t kill AB.

Steelers will WIN AFC NORTH this season!!

Just think of the roid rage comments on this message board that would come from Steelers fans if a certain team had this happen at one of their practices. Stay self righteous Steelers’ fans. Your team is as pure as a newborn baby!

Or Small Ben falls on his keister and takes himself out for the concussion protocol.

  38. gsr1191 says: Aug 11, 2016 8:02 AM

Wow what an overreaction. Probably because the article did not state in any way what happened. Apparently he was complaining about a few calls throughout the day and on the last instance he dropped a few profanities towards the official.
All WR’s do this and apparently the NFL is cracking down on the them complaining about non-calls and now have the ability to toss them from games.
    AB has since apologized.

  39. xinellum says: Aug 11, 2016 8:09 AM

And the coaches are screaming to get refs to work preseason games. And tell me again why they should do it for free when you have idiots like this making a big deal out of a training camp play. Sounds like Antonio is missing that stuff he smokes in the off season that calms his nerves.

  41. gsr1191 says: Aug 11, 2016 8:26 AM

Also, nobody would even know about this if this ref had any professionalism of his own. When have you have heard a ref after a PRACTICE tell the assembled media what happened between said player and said ref and that they will be reporting said player to the league office. I would guess NEVER. Heck I have never even heard of this after a game. Refs are refs. Do your job and be quiet. Wouldn’t mind it if we heard about 3 weeks from now when AB gets fined.

  42. jerruhjones says: Aug 11, 2016 8:36 AM

I don’t know about the Bengals, but considering that Brown had a total of 103 yards in 2 losses versus the Ravens last season, I’m guessing they will probably just watch tape of last season’s games.

  44. elmogotagun says: Aug 11, 2016 10:19 AM

  45. steeelfann0155 says: Aug 11, 2016 10:30 AM

Best receiver in NFL. IF Ben doesn’t miss 4 games
Last year, AB breaks all total catches:yards records. Unstoppable, you
Can only hope to contain him. Course with these flag football rules, Swann and Stallworth would just destroy this league

  46. dougchillin says: Aug 11, 2016 10:36 AM

Umm who cares? We’re talking about practice. Not a game. Practice
