Report: Stevie Johnson out for season

Chargers wide receiver Stevie Johnson will miss the 2016 season, NFL Network reported Wednesday.

The report said Johnson had successful surgery to repair the torn meniscus he suffered early in training camp but the injury will require “months” of rehab and keep Johnson out of action this season.

The Chargers signed veteran wide receiver James Jones after Johnson was injured and brought in the speedy Travis Benjamin via free agency last March. It’s still a loss for Philip Rivers and the Chargers because Johnson brought experience and playmaking ability. He caught 45 passes in 10 games for the Chargers last season.

Johnson, 30, has also played for the Bills and 49ers. He has 34 career touchdown receptions.

That’s bad news…never like to hear that as everyone is excited to ramp up the season. Even though he’s been a clown at times, he’s a fun clown and I enjoy watching this guy play. He can ball.

    Hope he returns to form…

They picked up James Jones already. Still a pretty respectable WR trio .. Keenan Allen, Travis Benjamin and James Jones.

I did some calculations and figure that the Chargers will have to replace around 4.5 catches per game without him in there.

One of my favorite Bills players of all time. A bright light in a dark time for the franchise. I wish him a speedy recovery!

Benjamin also has a history of injury with his pencil body. Surprised he isn’t hurt yet. Won’t be long…

I realize that all injuries are different but an entire season for a torn meniscus seems extremely lengthy for a professional athlete. There’s got to be more to the story.

Thank you Chargers. The Raiders are no longer the place where NFL players go to end their careers.

Bummer. Few people have brought me closer to heart attacks than Stevie, but despite all the drops always loved the guy. Get well.

No blood flow in a meniscus, hard to ‘heal’…BTDT (twice).
