The Bears claimed cornerback K’Waun Williams Tuesday, a day after Williams was waived by the Browns.
Williams had been suspended by the Browns for violating team rules in a spat over his health and availability to play. The Bears acquiring Williams is contingent on Williams passing a physical, which BearReport.com reported is set for Wednesday.
The report said Williams got a cortisone shot last week and wants to hold off on surgery to remove bone spurs in his ankle until after the season. Williams and his agent disagreed with the Browns about his injury, and an outside medical opinion recommended surgery.
Williams made the Browns as an undrafted rookie in 2014 and has played in 13 games, mostly as a nickel cornerback, in each of his first two seasons.
