Lawrence Taylor arrested for drunk driving

Lawrence Taylor, the Hall of Fame linebacker whose on-field brilliance was often overshadowed by his off-field problems, has been arrested again.

Taylor was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Friday, the Florida Highway Patrol confirmed to WPTV.

Police say Taylor was driving a Bentley on the Turnpike when he hit a motorhome, then sideswiped a patrol vehicle. No injuries were reported. Taylor was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail.

The 57-year-old Taylor was a 10-time first-team All-Pro, three-time Defensive Player of the Year, two-time Super Bowl champion and 1986 NFL MVP. But throughout his NFL career he was plagued by problems relating to substance abuse, problems that have continued into his retirement.

Do you reset the clock for former players? Or maybe have one specifically for them?

    Give the guy a break

  4. Wisconsin77 says: Sep 3, 2016 7:29 AM

The only thing shocking about this incident is that Lawrence Taylor can still afford to drive a Bentley.

  5. lsuzilla says: Sep 3, 2016 7:32 AM

Has he blamed concussions yet? Or the American flag? Or anything other than himself?

  6. jasons81 says: Sep 3, 2016 7:35 AM

And, just like the instance with the 14 year old prostitute, he’ll get away with it because he’s LT.

Sideswiped a squad car in his Bentley. Classic

  8. kd75 says: Sep 3, 2016 7:49 AM

If a Bentley hits your motorhome, can you keep it?

  9. eljefedelmundo says: Sep 3, 2016 8:02 AM

Saints could use him on either line.

    Loomis- get onto it!

    “then sideswiped a patrol vehicle.”

Well thats amazing, nothing like driving your way straight into jail and how do you not see a giant motor home in front of you. he must have been .30 on the drunk scale.

  11. doctorrustbelt says: Sep 3, 2016 8:17 AM

Lawrence Taylor’s chronological criminal history statistically indicates that they come in threes for LT.

So… get your popcorn and aspirin.

  12. MiamiDolphinsTruthTeller says: Sep 3, 2016 8:20 AM

    Boy, that’s a shocker!
Once a low life, always a low life.

  13. filmex2000 says: Sep 3, 2016 8:27 AM

I imagine both LT and the world will survive this, as long as he doesn’t sit during the national anthem.

  14. bannedfromchoirpractice says: Sep 3, 2016 8:28 AM

Okay, he might’ve hit a motorhome and then sideswiped a patrol car, but when the cop asked how he was doing, did he say “I’m officer”?

No, he did not. So let’s allow the investigation to run its course before coming down too hard on the guy.

  15. newjerseygiants says: Sep 3, 2016 8:30 AM

    He can afford a Bentley?

  16. mazenblue says: Sep 3, 2016 8:34 AM

Thought he was in prison for rape, or was there a double standard involved because he was an athlete??

  17. manureman says: Sep 3, 2016 8:37 AM

Best ever it’s a shame he couldn’t play in todays NFL. He would be suspended more than he would be on the field.

So what? Aren’t there better stories you can find, especially with final cut down day upon us?
When does the police blotter for LONG GONE retired players stop making your news?

    Stop picking on “Parcells Guy”

  20. bmoreb says: Sep 3, 2016 8:52 AM

I’m just curious which is worth more the Bentley or the motor home. The safe bet is the Bentley, but man, some motor homes are worth serious coin.

I like underdogs, my money is on the motor home for a dollar. Any takers ? 🙂

  21. nothingman says: Sep 3, 2016 8:55 AM

But no underage hookers this time, right?

  22. TB12RALLYCRY says: Sep 3, 2016 8:56 AM

Parcells once said he played great football but he sometimes felt as though he failed him as a person ………Bill is right once again……..

  23. patriots123456 says: Sep 3, 2016 9:07 AM

At least he didn’t have a underage girl with him.

  24. georgeremus says: Sep 3, 2016 9:08 AM

    Was the Bentley stolen?

  25. chieftaindawg says: Sep 3, 2016 9:14 AM

Oh no, watch out for Mrs Taylor, LT.

  26. 700levelvet says: Sep 3, 2016 9:35 AM

Wonder why he was never hired as a host on Good Morning America….

  27. rankster1950 says: Sep 3, 2016 9:42 AM

Did he tell the cop he was l.T

  28. jojobop says: Sep 3, 2016 9:45 AM

I feel oppressed knowing he drives a Bentley. Or is the term, “oppressed” only reserved for African Americans?

  29. loumann says: Sep 3, 2016 9:49 AM

Sir Lawrence of The Meadowlands…….if you could keep the car on the road , you were not drunk! Love you!

  30. purpleguy says: Sep 3, 2016 9:56 AM

Well, he probably didn’t see the patrol car cause it was shielded by the big honkin motor home he ran into first.

  32. rayguyhof says: Sep 3, 2016 9:59 AM

  33. abninf says: Sep 3, 2016 10:03 AM

If you look at him you can see he has those yellow alcoholic eyes. He has liver damage.

  34. 4sacroc says: Sep 3, 2016 10:03 AM

Surprised the arrest report did not include ‘suspended license’ a standard with these idiots.

  35. hellonewman47 says: Sep 3, 2016 10:07 AM

He needs to be locked up for life. He may have been a great player, but he is criminal scum and needs to be taken off the street instead of getting a ton of chances while putting innocent people in danger.

  36. MiamiDolphinsTruthTeller says: Sep 3, 2016 10:22 AM

He was probably driving Parcells vehicle, surprised Bill still isn’t his personal chauffeur??

  37. patriots123456 says: Sep 3, 2016 10:27 AM

The secret service just emailed him a job application form.

Being drunk, can’t drive and being involved in prostitution apparently makes him pre-qualified.

thats because todays NFL is on the verge of flag football

im a patriots fan & i’ll tell you there is no way possible any of these Qb’s in todays game would survive with maniac’s like LT coming for them.

    PERIOD

He hates the sauce! Hopefully the fool doesn’t kill somebody.

  40. jag1959 says: Sep 3, 2016 10:57 AM

LT obviously hasn’t beaten his demons. Further proof you can save someone from most anything but themselves. Thankfully no one was hurt this time but the track record suggests it is only a matter of time.

  41. gfan8611 says: Sep 3, 2016 11:27 AM

Great player but it’s obvious at this point if he hadn’t had the athletic skills that got him into football he’d have spent most of his life in a prison somewhere.

  42. jimjets says: Sep 3, 2016 11:50 AM

a winner on the field a loser off of it. end of story, nothing new to see here

  43. catquick says: Sep 3, 2016 2:52 PM

I believe he’s on probation for life because of the sex charges with a minor. I could be wrong, but how does he get car insurance? The General?

  44. cubb1 says: Sep 3, 2016 11:17 PM

    Can’t fix stupid.
