Saints cut Chris McCain days after trading for him

The Saints needed a pass-rusher, but they didn’t need as many as they acquired last week.

According to Josh Katzenstein of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the Saints have released defensive end Chris McCain.

They acquired him in a trade with the Dolphins for a conditional pick, but since they cut him there will be no compensation. The Dolphins are likely fine with that, since they were probably going to cut McCain anyway.

The Saints brought veteran outside linebacker Paul Kruger in this week, filling that vacancy with a more experienced and productive player.
